2024: A Year of Transformation and Growth!

We are beyond grateful for the progress that was made at Acts of Service, we started 2024 inspired to become a fully incorporated non-profit, here are all our behind-the-scenes accomplishments!

2024 Milestones

Founding Acts of Service ✨ Turning a dream into reality was no small feat. With no prior experience in nonprofit work, I tackled each challenge step by step—often during my daughter’s naps or Sunday mornings at the local coffee shop. Over the course of a year, I navigated complex paperwork and administrative processes. In March 2024, Acts of Service officially became a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization! 🎉

Our Mission: to support and empower underserved youth seeking careers in the hospitality industry with community building, job readiness, and career development services.

Establishing a Board of Directors ✨ I am grateful to our dedicated Board of Directors who have generously volunteered their time to support our mission. While we faced unexpected challenges—like a tsunami warning during one of our final meetings—the commitment of this team has been unwavering.

Building a Solid Foundation ✨ Laying the groundwork for Acts of Service was both challenging and rewarding. Here are some key achievements:

  • Strategic Planning: Our business plan continues to evolve into a comprehensive strategy.

  • Financial Infrastructure: We secured a bank account after receiving tax-exempt status.

  • Digital Presence: Acts of Service now has a website (www.actsofservicesf.org) and a LinkedIn Page for Acts of Service with growing engagement.

  • Grants and Tools: We received grants from Google for Workspace and Microsoft for essential nonprofit software.

  • Transparency: We established a GuideStar Profile and earned a Bronze Seal of Transparency.

  • Volunteer Program: A structured volunteer program is underway.

  • Governance: We adopted bylaws and a conflict-of-interest policy for the Board of Directors.

Business Development ✨ This has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding aspects of the year. Initially, I struggled to articulate why Acts of Service matters. However, through persistence, reflection, and support from mentors, Toastmasters, and loved ones, I’ve found my voice.

Our Vision is clear: to mentor and train the hospitality leaders of tomorrow. The hospitality industry has profoundly impacted my life, lifting my family out of poverty and providing countless opportunities. I want to give back and help others find similar success.

Looking Ahead

As we step into 2025, I am more determined than ever to make a difference. If we can positively impact even one person’s life, this journey will have been worthwhile. Thank you for being part of this mission.

Here’s to a new year filled with growth, purpose, and impact.

Thank you for your support!
